Eagle Scout Project – Ice Skate Drive

Families of Pack 60, I have been contacted by Michael Farren – a Sudbury Troop 61 Eagle Scout – who has chosen to dedicate his Eagle Scout Project to helping Sudbury residents who wish to learn to skate.  He is constructing a skate bin to be kept at the JT Memorial rink (at Fairbank Community Center next to Haskell Field) every winter, and he wants to fill it with donated gently used skates of all types and sizes.  If you have any skates you would like to donate to this worthwhile cause, please drop them off at any of the three drop-off locations through March 30, 2017.

Locations: Goodnow Library; Thoreau Club; and The Fieldhouse.

Please see this Skate Drive Flyer for more details.

Cheers!

Spring Campout 6/16

Our spring campout date has been set for 6/16 at the Maynard Rod & Gun Club.

A note from Pack Leader Dan Maier regarding the spring campout:

Dear Pack 60,

As we announced at Roller Kingdom, we have had to adjust the Spring camp-out and location.   We had to adjust from the 9th to the 16th.  As for the location, Nobscot Reservation will be closed for 3 months for trail widening and repair (Jun-Aug) and Camp Resolute where we stayed in the fall is available the weekend prior.  For my first years in the Pack, we did our Spring Campout at the Maynard Rod and Gun Club (2009-2012).  They have ample parking, are off of Rte 117 on the Sudbury/Maynard line, a field for us to camp in, a fire pit, a baseball diamond to use and pond to fish in.  There will be no active firing or discharging of any weapons at all during the camp-out.  We are also not sleeping near the range(s) and they have a bathroom we can use.  At the Blue and Gold Dinner I will be happy to walk everyone through it and we will show pictures of the camping area.

I understand there are concerns from some parents and I am happy to discuss further.  My apologies if this was not clearer earlier.

Regards,

Dan
